The Red Coral Kukri Snake, Oligodon kherensis was first recorded in 1936 at Kheria area of Uttar Pradesh. A dead snake was found on that time and the scientific name was given on the basis of locality. After that it was found at Birnagar of Nepal. And then there was no report of this snake. In 2010 it was found at Siristala of Jalpaiguri town. And after that in 2012 upto July four specimens have been recorded at Jalpaiguri town (Pande, 2012). It is a nonpoisonous snake and locally known as Rakta Prabal Kukri Sap. On personal communication it is known that herpetologists Mr. Romulus Whitaker and Mr. Dipak Mitra have seen this snake in North Bengal.- Snake Diversity in West Bengal

On 9th August, 2008 while we were travelling with Mr. Anjan Guha, Assistant Field Director of Sundarban Tiger Reserve and Mr. Shailendra Singh, Scientific Officer of Madras Crocodile Bank and Indian representative of TSA (Turtle Survival Alliance) from Sajnekhali Wildlife Sanctuary to Sudhanyakhali, three Indo-Pacific Hump-backed Dolphins Sousa chinensis (Osbeck, 1765) were found swimming in Gomor river of Indian Sundarban. We have observed that out of three there were one male swimming alone and one mother with her baby.
